As a service to our UK extrusion process customers the UK web site hosts information specific to the UK market.  PLAST-CONTROL UK has been supplying  PLAST-CONTROL extrusion control technology since 1990 and provides technical consultation services,  UK based installation/commissioning, and warranty support as well as holding comprehensive stocks of spare parts and consumables for the complete product range including heritage systems 20 years + in age

We also have newly expanded training and demonstration facilities for the product range at the Preston office/workshop.

Non Contact On-Line Profile Measurement

Air CC True Non Contact Profile Measurement Sensor

The Air CC non contact capacitive sensor has now been launched into the UK, the sensor uses a clean low energy principle for the accurate on-line measurement of profile variations of plastic films up to 200 micron in thickness.

Air CC offers exceptional performance when measuring sticky films and surface sensitive films were marking of the film structure is not acceptable. Using an air cushion system the capacitive sensor uses a patented principle in order to calculate the distance of the film from the sensor. This accurate solid state principle of distance measurement is used to calculate the offset of the measurement signal compensating any variation in the air gap caused by instability in the film structure during production.

The design of the Air CC is compact and can be mounted as our standard C-Head on an automatic radial arm and rotational scanner for measurement of the profile independent of the process rotation.

 

 

After Sales Support Program for 2010

PLAST-CONTROL systems for many of our customers are a core operational service for the process machines, and to enhance our after sales service we are introducing several new features to our aftercare program.

 

All new systems will be supplied to the UK market from 1st January 2010 will be supplied with:

 

A free of charge additional 12 months parts warranty (with some exclusions) on top of the standard 12 months parts and labour warranty.

 

Perhaps more important than the warranty, is the time taken to respond to a break down or problem, often waiting for a technical response or spare part costs much more than the repair of the fault itself, with this mind we now offer with new equipment.

 

12 months free of charge dial up service for instant engineering response (for ACS based systems (subsequent years are covered in our service contract scheme)).

 

In addition to these important changes we have also expanded our UK spare parts stock. Offering spare part supply on Sameday or Next Delivery within the UK.

 

Faulty components can be often repaired and we offer a full repair and refurbishment service with full climatic cabinet test ensuring the repair meets the same quality standards as new, and to increase the turnaround speed we offer full reconditioned spares on a service exchange basis (please note that it is not possible to cover all components in the exchange scheme due to technical limitations).

 

For our older heritage system we also offer full cost effective upgrades to new hardware platforms with guaranteed compatibility with existing mechanical hardware. 

 

GDC extrusion control with continuous dosing system

Completed install of GDC 4100 Navigator on W&H Mono Varex Line.

 A UK customer has completed upgrading one of his bread bag film production lines with a GDC 4100 system with integrated loss in weight measurement for extruder control and continuous Gravimetric dosing.

The GDC system replaces an older PLAST-CONTROL system and competitors stand alone blending system, integrating both functions into the one system .

The system not only eliminates the problem of material separation and demixing, but also reduces additive and raw material consumption by more accurate control with the advantage of a linear delivery of additive and raw materials - improving film quality and mechanical properties.

The GDC system also features the latest design of weighing hopper system with tool free removable weighing hoppers for easy clean down, stepper drive technology for high resolution control of the dosing units and TFT touch screen control for easy intuitive management of the system.

The line has also been equipped with the PLAST-CONTROL Magicflow air ring system which has increased machine output by 15% with improved mechanical properties of the film.

Fully Integrated Line Control

Recently commissioned at a UK customer a new Three Layer Co-Extrusion line has been installed complete with the latest generation of PLAST-CONTROL C-Head profile measurement technology, PRO-CON DUO profile control, and Gravimetric extrusion control with fully integrated loss in weight continuous dosing systems with our PCH modular hopper loader system with centralised suction.

These combinations of systems are handled via our ACS system offering a completely integrated line control system via our 19 inch touch screen.

The loss in weight dosing has several advantages offering high accuracy addition rates for extremely small throughputs, no chance of material separation and demixing, fast material change time and addition rate changes.

Coupled with the PCH loading system and auto shut down of additive loading on completion of the order payback of the Gravimetric system is extremely quick.

 

MAGICFLOW PRO-CON Bluetooth version.

Not for down loading the latest ring tones, the PRO-CON profile control air ring system seen here fitted with MAGICFLOW inserts and Bluetooth wireless connection has been recently installed at one of our newest UK customers.

As with many lines running gusseted or side folded shrink films many of these extrusion dies are fully rotational. This PRO-CON system uses an industrial strength version of the Bluetooth wireless protocol so that communication cables are not required between the rotating PRO-CON and the main command panel. Unaffected by interference the Bluetooth link can be used in any application were communication is required and cable connection is not possible.

 

PRO-CON DUO Installations

A number of PRO-CON DUO systems have been installed in the UK this year, with the latest versions being installed on 1985 vintage W&H lines.

Both customers reporting increased output of 25-35%, reduced film tolerances and improved mechanical properties.

The K 2007 show is over and with over 240,000 reported visitors this years K was the biggest to date.

New PRO-BATCH Batch blending system.

A UK customer has taken delivery of two PRO-BATCH batch blending systems. The PRO-BATCH features a ground up design for Batch Blending incorporating several features which increase accuracy and reduce size relative to maximum output compared to other systems on the market.

The PRO-BATCH system can be configured for both stand alone and direct install onto the extruder. Seen here installed as a stand alone version the customer is using the systems to feed mixed materials to four extrusion lines.

PRO-BATCH can also be supplied with integrated extrusion control which does not increase the overall height of the blender.

Supplied in either 4 station or 6 station with automatic small throughput control the system uses a clear easy to read TFT touch screen control with the option of integration into your existing PLAST-CONTROL line control system.

 

PRO-JET Profile Control Installation

UK install of the PRO-JET Blown film profile control system.

PRO-JET offers high resolution online profile measurement and control of the cross sectional profile tolerances.

Seen here on a recent installation the system is suited for smaller die head sizes and were machine output is limited due to reasons other than cooling capacity.

The system fits below the existing machine cooling ring and die head without the need of modification to either existing units and is suitable for die diameter sizes between 120 and 1400 mm. Process information and computing power is supplied by either the GDC or ACS Navigator system.

PRO-JET can be supplied either stand alone or integrated with other PLAST-CONTROL options.
